Russian Envoy Dmitriev Set to Meet U.S. Delegation at Davos

(MENAFN) Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev is expected to meet members of a US delegation on the margins of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, according to a report by media, citing sources familiar with the plans.

Separately, Axios correspondent Barak Ravid wrote on X that Dmitriev is set to hold discussions on Tuesday with US President Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner while in Switzerland. Ravid’s sources said the agenda will focus on Trump’s proposed framework for resolving the Ukraine conflict.

The Russian Embassy in Switzerland said last week it had not received any official invitations for Russian officials, business figures, or journalists to attend Davos. Russia has been excluded from the WEF since tensions between Moscow and Kiev escalated in 2022.

Dmitriev has traveled to the United States multiple times since Trump took office a year ago, engaging in negotiations aimed at repairing bilateral relations and ending the fighting between Moscow and Kiev. His most recent visit occurred in December, when he spent two days in talks with Witkoff and Kushner. Both sides characterized those discussions as “constructive.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said last week that Moscow is anticipating another visit by Witkoff and Kushner, though he added that no date has been finalized. Earlier, media, citing sources, reported that the trip could take place later this month.

According to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian President Vladimir Putin has met with Witkoff six times in 2025.

Meanwhile, Kiev’s chief negotiator Rustem Umerov said on Sunday that talks with US officials on pursuing a diplomatic resolution to the Ukraine conflict will continue during the WEF, which runs from Monday through Friday.

Trump, who addressed the forum via video link in 2025, is expected to attend the high-profile gathering in person this year.
