U.S. Sees Uptick in Import Prices

(MENAFN) The United States witnessed a marginal uptick in import costs last month, with December figures showing a 0.1% monthly rise, according to data released Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Export pricing pressures proved more pronounced, climbing 0.3% month-over-month during the same period, the bureau reported.

The agency emphasized that "Over the past year, import prices were unchanged and export prices increased 3.1 percent," highlighting divergent trends in trade pricing dynamics.

Meanwhile, consumer inflation in the US registered at 2.7% year-over-year and 0.3% month-over-month for December 2025, underscoring persistent price pressures facing American households.

The latest trade price data arrives as policymakers monitor inflation trajectories and global supply chain pressures that continue shaping the economic landscape.
